Had all the materials laying around and had a bit of time so I decided to make an 3x3x3 LED cube. Its something I have been meaning to do for a while. Eventually I will move up to 8x8x8 or something huge and more time consuming. For now this is good enough.

Pretty simple build, took about 2 hours from start to finish. Most of the time was just soldering.
One thing I would change is to use something lower than the 220ohm resistors I chose, the LEDs are a little dim when all 9 of a section is lit up. Though they are not the most expensive LEDs or the brightest, just some inexpensive ones I had a huge bag of.
Program being used is from the Instructables link.
